Production companies responsibility to:

1.             Production company is responsible for getting relevant permissions from local authorities and police.

2.             They should also make sure all relevant insurance is in place for the talent vehicle and third parties. In the event of a non-fault claim it is the responsibility of the hirer to pay Off Trax's vehicle excess - £1000.00 for the Dodge or £600.00 for the Land Rover.

3.             The driver has the authority to suspend operation of the vehicle for any reason deemed to be unsafe.

4.             Only those persons absolutely required during rehearsals and shooting shall be allowed on the vehicle. A max of 7 crew members (plus driver) can travel on Dodge (6 if vehicle is carrying a crane or other heavy equipment). A maximum of 5 crew members (plus driver) can travel on Land Rover    (4 if crane is being used).

5.             The director or first assistant is to always be on the tracking vehicle, this person is to have full control. The driver will only take instructions from him / her.

6.             Anybody riding on the exterior of the vehicle must be in a secure position within the safety rails and / or wearing a harness. This may be accomplished by either a safety rail placed at the appropriate height for the layout of the vehicle or by an appropriate safety harness properly secured. No sitting on the sides, roof or front platform unless wearing a harness and being correctly attached.

7.             Nobody should jump from the vehicle when in motion. If the tracking vehicle engine is running while parked you should not enter or exit the vehicle unless permitted to do so by the driver or first A.D.  

8.             Always use the slowest speed possible, if high speeds are necessary decrease the number of persons on vehicle and a specific safety assessment is to be undertaken.

9.             Tracking vehicle may only stop in safe environments or as directed by the police officer on duty.

10.           All rigging of equipment is to be performed in a safe manner by qualified and experienced personnel.

Rigging should only happen in an area specifically secured for the purpose (free of hazards / traffic).

11.           It is the responsibility of the production company to inform the police as to where and how the tracking vehicle will be used and to take advice thereafter.

12.           Routes must be planned and/or our technicians should be present on recces of the area to be used.

13.           No white light to shine to rear of vehicle on public roads, especially at night. Flag off as appropriate.

14.           NO front platform can be used on public roads unless closed off and with police approval. On private test circuits or other controlled environments essential crew can film from the front platform if it is deemed safe by the driver. Some third party safeguards may need to be put in place. A max of two crew members allowed on Dodge front platform. A max of one crew member allowed on Land Rover front platform. Whenever possible prior notice should be given to the Off Trax office to allow for health and safety consideration. A recce may be worthwhile to avoid problems on the shoot day.

 

These rules are in place for everyones safety and to ensure the best possible shots. Safety of crew and other road users always takes precedence therefore our technicians must have the authority to act accordingly.
